Turbo-compressor set TKU-0.6/28 forms part of nitric acid producing unit UKL-7 as a source of compressed air. ТКU is designed to supply compressed air for the process of non-concentrated nitric acid production and for recuperation of tail gas pressure and heat energy. Chemical industrial enterprises are among the main users of TKU as part of UKL-7.

TKU consists of turbo-compressor, oil station, fuel equipment, blow-off valve block. An axial-flow compressor has twelve stages and variable inlet guide vanes. Turbine is of an axial three-stage type. Mounted combustion chamber. A separate oil station unit. Fuel equipment includes a metering and a lock valve. Six valves form the blow-off valve block and are used to bleed air during TKU startup and to prevent compressor surge when changing between operational modes.
